About Me

I am currently a 3rd year student at The University of Manchester studying BA Drama. Over the next year, 2020-21, I am Co-president of the University of Manchester Drama Society, a role where I take part in programming our seasons, engaging members and organising workshops alongside working with venues and liasing with our drama department. Alongside my co-president Sophia Rosen Fouladi and the rest of the committee we are focused on 4 key aims; improving diversity, providing opportunities, encouraging experimentation and a collaborative way of working.

My interests in theatre-making primarily lie in directing. As well as this I am particularly interested in movement, dramaturgy and socially engaged practice. Both within my work as a director and my studies I am increasingly interested in examining how site and space can be used, how to curate and manipulate atmosphere and how an audience may experience a sense of place. Additionally, my experience with dance and movement often inform my approach to directing and considering how the body may move. Thematically, I am drawn to theatre which approaches socio-political issues as well as ideas surrounding identity, relationships and humanity. Within this, I seek to work as a director on staged works, particularly contemporary work or new-writing, and to work as a theatre-maker on site-specific work and in socially engaged practice.

In the past I have worked with companies and venues such as Theatre Deli Sheffield, The Bare Project, Cardboard Citizens and SamDoesTheatre.
